Large Vintage ornate brass trinket dresser box w/ lid octagon India Tobacciana?

Large Vintage ornate brass trinket box with lid, octagon shaped, India Great condition used condition, needs cleaning, several scuff marks on the bottom, measures about 6 1/2 inches across. Weighs about 2lbs 5oz. Not sure what it was originally used for but would be great as a dresser, trinket, candy, baubble box or just for decoration. Someone suggested possibly for cigarettes/cigars/tobacco, but I'm really not sure.
